After being in Italy over a year it was time to experience Snowboarding one more time. The last time I boarded was at the Snow Town Yeti Ski Resort in the southern slope of Mount Fuji. That was my first time riding and ever since I have wanted to practice whenever I am an near snow. This year the opportunity came up to take a trip up to the Roccaraso, a town and commune in central Italy, in the province of L’Aquila in the Abruzzo region.
The town of Roccaraso dates back to around 1000 AD, and is located near the Rasinus stream, from which some believe it took its original name, Rasin Rocca. It developed as a farming village, inhabited by herdsmen and craftsmen, which guaranteed its people a peaceful and prosperous life. During the late 19th century, the opening of the rail link with Naples begins to bring the first tourists, attracted by the beauty of the natural environment, who were soon welcomed by various hotels that at that time were beginning to rise.
